Teams of energetic volunteers cleared more than 1,000kg of trash from a mangrove beach in Abu Dhabi.
About 70 people put on gloves and grabbed trash bags to removed bottles, cans, cigarette packets and PVC pipes from the mangroves next to Salam Street.
The beach is a vital turtle nesting area and hamour breeding ground.
The clean-up was the first part of the Landmark Mangrove Project, a program of nine clean-ups throughout the year at the Salam Street mangrove.
