Using pens carved from dried bamboo and ink blended with ground nuts, Abu Dhabi students took a journey back through centuries of Islamic art and culture.
Students at several schools in the emirate were taught Arabic Calligraphy – an artistic practice that dates back to before the 10th century and is found today decorating the UAE’s mosques and even company logos.
Teaching them the history and technique of calligraphy was Khaled Al Saa’i, a highly-respected Syrian calligrapher, artist and university lecturer who has won several regional prizes for his skills.
